QSC Clutch Kit Installed!

I just finished installing one of QSC's clutch kits on my 550, and although I haven't had much of a chance to ride it anywhere other than around the yard and the road in front of my house a little bit, the difference is like night and day compared to stock. The first thing I noticed is that it doesn't engage so damn hard anymore, nice and smooth, perfect! That was one of my biggest complaints. From a dead stop, or even a slight crawl, a full throttle hit in two wheel drive is just stupid, just spins the tires in the dirt, 4 wheel drive isn't much different. On the pavement, it damn near pulls the front end and carries it like a muscle car until you let out of it! Top speed, at least from what I can tell (I'm not out to win a top end race) is still all there, I hit about 54 or so and it was still pulling. Support from Adam is stellar. He had no issues taking time to talk to me on at least three occasions, built a kit per my specific needs/wants, and answered all my questions without hesitation. Although I don't know what other guys kits are like, I would without a doubt, very highly recommend QSC to anyone. :top:

Nope, just a UNI air filter to let it breathe a bit better, I don't see any reason to mess with an otherwise good thing. Oh yea, just need to find some time to put on my new HID's too. A slip-on will add little if any additional power, a full exhaust will lean it out and then you need to add a programmer, now you are at around $600+ for just a few more ponies, not worth it in my opinion. I do want better tires however. The kit Adam sent me has his green/silver primary with 54 gram weights, and silver/red secondary spring. My only complaint, if you want to call it one, and I may be wrong, is that the top end takes longer to come on after about 38-40 MPH. Adam said putting the stock secondary spring in should cure that, but I'm not worried about it, like I said, I'm not trying to win a drag race. Initial engagement is a huge improvement in itself, no more neck snapping at take-off. You will not be disappointed.

How hard is it to install a clutch kit? Do you need any special tools?

Taking the belt off is a little tough, but compressing the primary clutch helps a lot. The primary is a piece of cake, the secondary is a whole different animal. You will need to buy, or save your money and make your own spring compressor, and getting the snap ring off is a bitch. The spring compressing is no big deal, and if you are even remotely inventive, you can make your own easily. You MUST have a good pair of snap ring pliers, I got a pair of Channellock's at Home Depot for about $22. If you don't want to tackle it, just take the assembly to your dealer and pay him to do it, OR, leave it alone and just do the primary mods and see how you like it. Depending on what you are expecting it to do, that may be all you need. As for tools, nothing out of the ordinary, good torx and SAE hex wrenches, preferably sockets (I highly recommend sockets!), and a torque wrench is good to have on the secondary bolt (15 ft/lbs), the rest just torque to tight. :) A little blue thread lock is good to use too, you don't want any of that stuff to come apart. If you will never use the torx, hex, and snap ring pliers ever again, just let the dealer do the secondary.

i plan to visit them very very soon like this week but would like to know of this weight question and if i should just get primary spring and weights and leave the secondary stock or so forth i heard an aftermarket stock spring is better anyways

Differnt shaped weight and differnt styles will afect the shift differntly, some take more force to shift and some take less it dose make a big differnce in the way your cluth will engage and shift. kinda weird I know, I have raced snowmobiles from the I500 to 1.25 mile ice drags, and have bought and tried many differnt style's and kinds. this is y you pay some one for a cluth kit because they have tried all of this and come up with the best ones. Hope this helps I know I have not explained this very well, but the best I can do for know. Also you may be able to twist the secoundery spring to afect the back shifting in the mid range but then you will give up a little on the other end.

I installed my qsc clutch in my 2017 Polaris sportsman 570 my brother in law has same atv all stock before the qsc clutch we’ve raced hundreds off times I was all ways 1/2 a atv a head. Now with the qsc he is 1/2 an atv ahead of me I have it set 1-1 and have tryed 2-2 same results.I even went and put an mbrp slip on exhaust. It did absolutely nothing I’m still slower was hoping it would be different out come. Does any one else have his problem.
