Valve Adjustment

Since I have 10450 miles on the 500X2 I thought it was time for a valve adjustment. A friend of mine helped me since I have never done it and it was very simple. From the time we started until the time we finished was 50 minutes. The X2 is very easy since the tank does not have to come off. The exhaust valves needed no adjustment and the intakes were a little tight. Got everything done a put back together and did a compression reading. At closed throttle it read 85lbs and open throttle 105. Not much of a drop in that many miles. New it should read 90 closed and 110 open. The 500 is still the most reliable motor Polaris has ever stuck in an ATV.

Some guys live on the trails, so to go home from work and take 2 hours to blow off some steam is easy, and runs up the miles. unlike me, where i have to trailer it for an hour or more to ride, i dont put many miles on it either. but im jealous of those who can!

Thanks Ronnie. We don't have a specific trail scheduled for Saturday yet, so maybe we will throw the Swell into the conversation. I'm thinking it will be Steel Bender though. Wed. Thur. and Fri. are booked up solid.
