I'm new and did an intro so here goes ... my 1st official question.

My son gave me a 2x4 325 Magnum...didn't run. Charged the battery, clean fue lcleaned the battery connections and it fired right up! Changed oil and filter and greased what fittings I could find. It runs really good but has no reverse! Seems to go into reverse but it just grinds. I hope it's a simple and cheap fix. I guess I'll address that problem when I get a service manual. I didn't get an owners manual with it so I'm not sure what year it is. He's not sure. Ser# on the right side case 0108620. Anybody know the correct yr.?

Well that's about it for now. Free is good so I figure I'm ahead of the game.

Regards,

17 fight vin number is on the left outside frame rail near the left footwell to the left front tire. The 10 th digit represents the year model.

Well with the vin# info provided by tt425 I determined that it's a 2001. Runs good and the charging system is charging. Fresh oil & filter, gas and all seems well...except there is that no reverse problem. Forward low and high are ok. as well as finding neutral. When I try to go into reverse it just grinds. I did see there is adjustment on the shift linkage. Should I attempt to adjust this a bit. I was told that there are pins that could bend or break and It's probably an easy fix??? Anyone have an opinion or suggestion?

I have to work and no computer at home. I use my phone but when it's cloudy and storming i have no signal.
Just make sure idle is not to high or it will grind all gears but if only grinding in reverse the reverse rod needs adjusted or something wrong inside transmission.

I checked on a factory manual...Wow $70.00...Found aftermarket manuals at Amazon for half that with free shipping. Before I start adjusting on the linkage rod I'll get the manual so at least I have a reference asa to the proper procedure.
