Does anybody use Roto Pax? If so, What are your thoughts?

They are the best you can buy. I have 2 - two gallon packs mounted flat on my front box, and it has never leaked.

That is the only problem I see. The cost. I know a company has to make a profit and sometimes the profit will depend on the number of people that even need a specific item but I still hate to pay 10 times what it took to make an item.

This isn't really a complaint. If I decided I want something, I will buy it. Not getting it at a reasonable price isn't always disqualifying factor.

The Rotopax are pricey actually I would say,"very pricey" but rock solid!! I never pay full price and am looking for a discount in which to purchase the packs. I do beleive in that the packs will not let you down when you need them the most and that probably will be in the most difficlut situaton.

Last night, I installed the (2) 1 gallon RotopaX fuel packs I received by mail earlier in the day. Hardest part of install was figuring out where I wanted to mount them. I had measured before I bought the packs and knew they would fit on either side of the headlight but wasn't sure which angle I wanted them to be. I purchased these packs as I didn't want to obstruct the headlight since I also installed the Quadovator 3 headlight mod. They were lots of money, but the only option for me as I was tired of stinky gas in the rear storage box. Anyways, here are a few pics...

Hey there fellow Colorado member. I sent you a PM.

For the amount of money these packs cost, the locks are a must. I was going to get the linked 2 gallon packs like you but really didn't want to obstruct the light pod, therefore, the 1 gallon packs were the only other option. Post some pics or your install when you get it done.

linked 2 gals with plate on front

I mounted the Linked Rotopax with the plate on top of the front deck.

Here's what I did.

Found the center.

Put tape approximately where the holes should be. I made sure at least four went through the Aluminum bar.

The bolts were kind of long. I may cut them shorter.
I realized I put the packs on backwards for this shot. The fill holes face towards the back.

I made sue there was clearance for the head light

Then I just packed the holes with Duct Seal.

I can leave the top open with the packs mounted, but there is a lot of strain on the wire retainer. I mean you could probably play a note on it. But I don't leave it open that often, so I may just take the packs off if I need to leave the front compartment open.

The hi beam bulb is above the top of the packs so it does show over the top of them.

Very nice install JimT, thanks for sharing those pics. I have yet to ride with mine on but am looking forward to it. As for the wire holding the front box open, you can add extra wires or straps to the existing screws. That's what I plan on doing to provide more support in the event I have to leave the box open.

Great Gas Can but...

The old adage…you get what you pay for. I love this your product, I bought one (1 Gal) gas container a couple of years ago after a friend highly recommended it. They are truly bullet proof . I now own three, Two (1 gals) and a 4 gal pack.
I have one major problem…the new "California - environmental nozzle." First, I had trouble getting the new type nozzle out of the can. (I'm fairly mechanically inclined.) - however, I could not figure out how use the stupid thing. So much for being environmentally friendly, while trying to rotate some of the old fuel, the nozzle would not pour. I mean it would flat out would not pour a drop. I ended up getting gas all over myself and the garage. The old 'Normal style" nozzle on my first container works and does not spill a drop…it is so much better than the newer style nozzles!!! FYI - After contacting Jason at RotopaX…he shipped an even newer version of the "California nozzle" along with a first generation style nozzle. This container is great…I hate to see it ruined with a poorly designed "environmentally friendly nozzle" that does not allow gas to pour. I recommend that before you take it off road, you ensure you can work the nozzle that came with the can or have it replaced

You can't blame Rotopax for that. Unfortunately all this %#&^^ environmentally friendly crap is taking over. :damnit: If we don't get a grip on it soon, who knows where this road will take us. Every time our government mandates something like this, we lose.
As for what to do with the environmentally friendly nozzles, just find the nearest environmentalist and......, well, I think you can figure out where I'm going with this.

The first time I came across one of those nozzles, I was there for a while trying to figure it out. I thought I was just a dumbass. I was was like "Why is this so difficult?" So no matter what you still have to put your fingers on a gas soaked nozzle to "open" or unlock it. I never had to do that with old nozzles.

How did some genius come up with this design then convince some lawmaker that was good? I dunno. I just walk away shaking my head.

Great product have been using them for several years now and they never leak. I have them swell up from the heat until they look like they are going to pop and still no problems.

Just got back from a Northern Mi trip. I had my lock and ride box and Rotopax can fly off on a bump and went tumbling into the front of my buddies atv. his machine was cracked up. Not a scratch on my Rotopax tank. It was full of gas and did not leak one drop. I tightened up my lock and ride attachments and had no trouble the rest of the trip. These things are TANKS!

I have a 4 gal Rotopax, my buddy has 4 gal Kolpin pack. His leaks and he has to mess with the cap all the time when he fills it up at the station. He spent the money and time to use the mounting kits for the Kolpin...I use 2 giant U-bolts. We spent the same amount on the pack itself and he spent the extra $50 to get the mounting stuff...I like my set up better...but it's personal preference. Can't go wrong with a Rotopax!
