I am selling my 05 Sportsman 700 and my Predator 500 sport quad and buying a "newer" 4x4. I basically have it narrowed down to an 850 XP or Kawi Brute Force 750. There are a few of each in my area for sale. The Poo's are more money and typically have more miles on them, but I have always owned Polaris, so I am nervous about jumping ship. Does anyone own one or the other or ridden both that can help me out?

Ok. I'm not sure what that means exactly.

The Brutes are real torqy but my old 800 would keep up with them, I also think they have the lowest water table, meaning will not take a lot to swamp them, and my buddy swamped his on his second ride (he took it through a puddle I just went through by the way, but he got stuck (that crappy 3 wheel drive got him)). He had bought it from another one of our buddies who babied it so it was taken care of the first 4 years. I think new they are more than an 850, I was at the dealer and the sticker on the new Brutes was like 10K and the Popo's are 9k (both with EPS) so if your seeing used ones where the Popos are more, that should tell you which one will hold its value better! Also when I rode his brute it felt like you sat fairly high, meaning it had that tippy feeling. Just my opinions.. Good luck, and just to note: at the end of the day I am sure you will be happy with either!

Thanks. Sounds like the Polaris is still the way to go.

I had a Brute 750 and now a Sportsman 850 to be honest I liked the motor and drive train in my brute it was smoother and to me it had more bottom end(kawi designed it that way) My 850 is much softer riding but my Brute was sportier but what I can tell ya the old brutes like mine was an 05 the intake sucked I closed it off and got a racing lid from EHS then that was fixed from what I have read the newer Brutes don't have that issue I don't know what year. I have no idea what a new 850 cost but I can buy a new Brute all day at 8500 with EPS here in VT. The "tippyness" feeling is not the bike but the SUCKY Dunlops from the factory and got aftermarket tire makes a world of difference. Both bikes are really good I wouldn't be afraid to have either. The Kawi there is a TON of aftermarket go fast parts and they are easy to work on and the exhaust sounds good stock but you hear the CVT more.
So try them both out and see what you like..My honest opinion the Brute more power and torque Polaris better ride it all depends on what you want
Have fun

Thanks for the input! It may come down to the money. As of right now I can get a nicer Brute cheaper than the popo. Almost all of them have 2 sets of tires and wheels. The stock tires must really suck!!! Lol

That is a nice brute I dont know if it will have Power steering on that year thats something to think about. With those bigger tires they look like 27's a different primary spring wouldn't hurt I ran a maroon EPI with the stock secondary. I bought my 09 850 XP for 4000 non eps I got a smokin deal. Try the Brute out and see what you think. The stock tires on my XP suck as well I got some Duro power grips coming in. Manufacture look more for ride quality then if they have good traction or not
Good luck

Nice also a side note with the Polaris you can engage the 4wd and it applies the Kawi needs to roll or have the tires turning for it to engage never knew why but thats the way its designed. I used to be a moderator over at BruteCentral did alot of test stuff if you have any questions Ill be more then happy to help out if I can. Good luck with your new toy with the rims and tires 5 grand isnt bad
